Young families still can afford a first home in a safe neighborhood in Forest Park, Illinois. The north end of Forest Park, Illinois is a nicely integrated community of sensible, durable pre-World War II homes, new town homes and loft developments, and a wonderful mix of restaurants and bars, plus a bowling alley. Harlem was the town's original name and its eastern border is Harlem Avenue. On the west is an impressive collection of cemeteries. Forest Park was once said to be more dead than alive because of all the people buried there, including Michael Todd, Elizabeth Taylor's first husband.
